You'd have to make the full geometry for the two side pieces so you can pad them, which means drawing sketches that trace the outer contour, including the radius on the corners, etc. Drawing two lines on the face won't make new faces that you can extrude.

This would allow you to pull the face edges into your sketch so that you can add constraints to your new sketch components.

You can make linkages to external geometry using the external geometry tool in the sketcher.
